..Our Pitch*
Genre: Punk/Rock/Pop
Track: Girl Love
Artist: Self Service
Target Audience-18-25
The look that we are trying to achieve will be very modern and colourful. We aim to make a video which reflects the tone of the song.
The narrative is based around a lesbian couple. The video will mainly be made up of flashbacks from the night before. Two girls drinking and getting ready to go out, making their way out, and also clips of both girls with their boyfriends. The irony is that the girls are both dating the same guy. The video will end in the present time(the morning after), and the two girls in bed together. One of the girls awakes and a 'fish eye' lens will be used to show that she is hungover. This will happen when the music clows down and becomes blurry. The fottage can be slowed down to create a realistic effect from the characters perspective. She will stumble around and then realise that the guy is in the bed too. In the video, lots of different locations will be used, for example, a bedroom, a Car and a cinema, which will differentiate the video. We are planning to use clothing that will appeal to a modern audience. In the video, there will be a mixture of reality performance and linked themed shots of art. These shots will appear throughout and add intensity. It will identify themes throughout the song, taking the lyrics quite literally. We decided to use these shots because the band said they are inspried by these, so we should therefore include some of the original inspiration. When editing we will cut these shots very fast to match the tempo of our song. While the flashbacks are used throughout the video, we we also have the two girls performing on a bed, parallel to this. By doing this we are incorperating several techniques and stlyes of filming.
A variety of camera angles will be used to make sure the shots are portrayed in the right way. Shots will be a variety of closeups of the protagonists, and the odd long shot. Shots of the two girls will be from varied ‘random’ angles. This will make the video very abstract and modern looking. We will use cross cutting and layering, we believe this will mix in well with the overall pop, punk, indie and mainly ‘experimental’ genre of music.
